February 13, 2010.
This was the 17th time Virginia Holliday walked the Wesley Community Center's "Love Walk". The walk started at the eastern portion of Forsyth Park on Drayton Street and progressed
to Gadson, to Bull. From Bull Street, the walkers exited the park heading north through the squares along Bull Street, turning around at the half-way mark in Johnson Square. From there, they headed back
to the park, then walked along the Whitaker Street side, back to Park Avenue then to the finish tent. Even though it rained about an hour before the walk, the rain had stopped but the ground were wet. The temperature was 38. To Virginia, this was just a lovely day to take a walk.
Most of Virginia's sponsors were from Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church. She raised a whopping $2,500 for the Wesley Community Center.
I had the honor and privilege to walk (keep up) with Virginia. And through the entire time, she was never short of words and at the end said she could do it again. Did I mention, she's 86 years old! THANK YOU VIRGINIA.
